Coming Soon: Code Name CruiseControl
We've been working on an application behind the scenes, without releasing too many details, however we now have a fully functional prototype for Symbian devices and will be rolling out a Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and Android version in short order. We had been Beta Testing the Symbian app under the name "SafeTXT", however this will not be the final branding of the application.
"CruiseControl" is an easy to use, native application that serves to prevent distracting mobile use while driving. Killer Mobile ® has been involved in applications of this type for the past 7 years, so the application was fairly easy to put together. Although not a Consumer "Killer App", we do see this as serving a huge need in the Enterprise and Government segments, with the transportation industry being a no-brainer.
Recently, at least in the United States, Texting while driving has gotten a huge amount of press. As always happens, people rush to the buzz and develop poorly thought out solutions without the smallest understanding of Mobile Software Development or the industry in general. Take "Cell Control" for example, currently only available for Blackberry devices (must be a Canadian company!). They seem to think that someone is going to pay $60 for a piece of hardware they have to plug into the Auto's OBD port, but then you're going to pay $24.95 to activate the phone, and $9 a month after that. Ouch! Not to mention their solution offers no real value except for communication prevention while driving. Another similar solution that's received quite a bit of press recently is called Izup (who chose that name should be sent back to grade school), which currently only runs on Android devices and was "invented" by a mother with zero experience in the mobile industry, which is proven by the fact the application also kicks in even when the user is a passenger on a train, car, bus or plane! Plus they expect you to pay a monthly fee for the inconvenience.
"CruiseControl" on the other hand was developed by a Veteran Mobile Applications development company, and thought out with ease of use, and functionality in mind. Cruise control will only prevent messaging and call usage when in the user's own car. No special hardware is required. The application can be scheduled to only take affect during working hours (for employers or government), send auto-reply SMS's alerting senders they'll be replied to shortly, and knows when it's paired to a BT headset so the application won't prevent calls. The application can be installed and setup in minutes, and even includes a feature to be alerted when a preset speed limit has been broken, which is sent via SMS along with a GPS location stamp where the event occurred. "CruiseControl" will be available for a low one time license fee for each device it's used in, starting at $15.
Killer Mobile ® Software is currently seeking resellers for this technology world-wide, and is offering exclusive rights in some countries based on the prospects track record in the Mobile industry. Companies & Governments interested in this solution are encouraged to contact us directly to setup a demo and discuss how we can customize the solution to suit your specific needs and deploy it across your work force. For the Transportation industry, we can also implement routine GPS uploads to a remote web account to track the vehicle, GPS "leashing" so you can be alerted when your vehicle is off the planned route and Time & Miles driven, all uploaded, organized and stored for your reference.
If you're interested, contact us and we'll be in touch shortly.
