SecureMe - Questions 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi,

I have installed the trial version of SecureMe on my Nokia N82, in order to test the application prior to purchase. There is no section in this forum dedicated to SecureMe, so I have chosen to post this under New Mobile App Ideas.

It would be helpful to receive comments on the following:-

1) When the device is in Full Attack mode and the screen & keypad are locked, is it then impossible to enter #passcode to exit and restore everything? It is not really clear from the instruction manual.

2) The remote SMS command 'RESTORE ALL' does not require the inputting of the passcode. In this case anyone who realises that 'SecureMe' is the source of an attack would be able to restore the phone to normal operation using this method and without knowing the passcode. I am quite concerned about this apparent vulnerability, especially if the product grows in popularity. Is my understanding correct?

3) Is there a reason why the passcode has been limited to just 4 digits? I think that a minimum of 6 digits would make it much more secure.

4) The remote SMS command 'HIDE CONTACT' works successfully, but nothing happened when I tried 'DELETE LOGS'. The latter function is also missing from the settings screen. Have any other users experienced problems with the deletion of call logs?

In all other respects the application is great.

Thanks for any help.

Hello,

1 - Keypad is still able to input the pass

2- Will be updated in next release

3- People can't easily remember any longer

4- Try DELETE LOG

Regards,

KM

Thanks. Is there a timeframe for the next release?

I tried sending the remote SMS command 'DELETE LOG' instead of 'DELETE LOGS', but still nothing happened. The same also applies to 'HIDE IMAGES'. These functions are enabled in the settings, so this outcome was unexpected.

A test of the 'FULL ATTACK' SMS command did successfully initiate all of the attack functions. The results were most impressive. However , I could not understand why my SMS messages were deleted when this particular function was disabled in the settings. Is this a known problem?

I have two secondary numbers currently enabled. The Full Attack test resulted in 2 SMS's being sent to the first number, but nothing to the second number. Any idea why?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Best regards

BTW, when you send the SMS DELETE LOGS and HIDE IMAGES, are the SMS's being received as normal, or are they being silently intercepted by the application?

The failed remote SMS commands were received as normal messages on my Nokia N82. On each occasion the text had been entered exactly as instructed.

I found that the successful SMS commands ('HIDE CONTACT' and 'FULL ATTACK' were silently intercepted by the application. No doubt this is reason why these two tests worked!

Hope this information helps.
