That's because we don't record from the microphone or speaker - we record the actual call stream, which is why SIP calls are not recorded and it requires a completely new method of doing so.

with the risk of being naive or ignorant ...

is recording of microphone input and output to speaker (rather than spefic gsm or sip streams) not an effective 'brute force' way of recording which could be in first instance manually activated and stopped?

in second instance the appropriate triggers for gsm / sip / messengers based calls could be added for automation of recording
